All commonly used software languages and operating systems, including Linux, are employed. Embedded Research Solutions, a subsidiary of Applied Research, is the embedded research and development arm of Applied Research undertaking advanced development and design assignments.

Applied Research accepts assignments which range from minor fixes to major developments and conversions. Billing is usually by the hour or by the project. Performance-related fee and bonus arrangements are acceptable as a part of overall compensation.
